A spokesman of the police separtment said that Sandeep Kumar was arrested from village Toba, district Ambala, and about 140 'tolas' of stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh and a country-made firearm were recovered from his possession.
During interrogation, Kumar revealed that he and his accomplice Avtar Singh of Handesra, district Mohali, Punjab, who had been arrested earlier, were involved in about 40 cases of dacoity and robbery, the spokesman said.
They also used to take loans against the stolen ornaments from private banks and companies, the spokesman claimed.
A case was registered in police station at Panjokhra.
