Rio to move trust vote in Nagaland Assembly tomorrow

The newly elected Neiphiu Rio government in Nagaland will face a trust vote in the assembly tomorrow when it meets for its first session, an Assembly official said today.
Election of the new Speaker too will be held tomorrow. After the election, the Rio government will move the trust vote in the House, Nagaland Lesgislative Assembly commissioner and secretary, N Benjamin Newmai said.
Nagaland Governor P B Acharya had appointed Rio as the new chief minister on March 6 and had asked him to prove his majority in the floor of the house on or before March 16.
The ruling Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) has 34 MLAs in the 60-member house. Its partners NDPP has 18, BJP - 12, JD(U)-1, NPP - 2 MLAs besides an Independent.
The PDA has nominated third-time MLA Vikho-o Yhoshu as its speaker candidate.
The opposition Naga People's Front(NPF) which has 26 MLAs has fielded former speaker Imtiwapang Aier for the post.
Newmai said as per programme the 14-day long session will witness administering of oath to the newly elected members.
The Assembly will have a long break from March 14 to 21 and on resumption see presentation and passage of budget on March 22.
