'Rise in discrepancy rate in BFSI, ITeS, FMCG & Healthcare'

The overall discrepancy level has witnessed a decline in the July-September period over the previous quarter, but inconsistency level in BFSI, ITeS/BPO, FMCG and healthcare and pharma sector is on a rise on a quarter-on-quarter basis, says a report.
According to the First Advantage Background Screening Trends Report Q3 2016, the overall discrepancy level stood at 10.6 per cent in July-September, down from 11 per cent in April-June.
The report, based on data collected from background verifications and reference checks conducted by First Advantage across the country in July-September period, noted that the highest number of discrepancy cases was recorded in the BFSI sector at 41 per cent followed by IT at 25 per cent.
In the July-September period of this year, discrepancies related to employment were the highest at 63.5 per cent, while address-related discrepancy stood at 12.4 per cent and education at 4.9 per cent respectively.
"To ensure the best talent is recruited and to cut on the cost of a wrong hire, employers are implementing stringent screening programmes with a desire to know their employees better and to strengthen the workforce with talented people," said First Advantage India MD and SVP Purushotam Savlani.
Among the top six states (Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi) Maharashtra recorded the highest discrepancy at 21 per cent followed by Karnataka at 20 per cent and Andhra Pradesh at 13 per cent.
Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad are the metro cities which topped in employment-related discrepancies in July-September, while Mumbai, New Delhi are the cities that topped the education-related discrepancies during the period.
The report was based on data collected from background verifications and reference checks conducted by First Advantage across India in the July-September quarter of 2016.
The results of the report are segmented under critical discrepancy types (employment, education, financial-related, address, and database) that examine the discrepancy breakdown by verticals, states, regions, industry, age, gender and the like.
