Rising demand lifts cardamom futures by 2.10%

Amid uptick in domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing regions, cardamom prices climbed by 2.10 per cent to Rs 854 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in in far-month June shot up by Rs 17.60, or 2.10 per cent to Rs 854 per kg in business turnover of 64 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contracts traded higher by Rs 15.10, or 1.95 per cent to Rs 791 per kg in 92 lots.
Analysts said besides rising demand in the spot market, restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
Some export enquiries also supported the upside, they said.
