Chana prices went up by 0.14 per cent to Rs 4,315 per quintal in futures trade Wednesday as participants expanded their positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in February was trading higher by Rs 6, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 4,315 per quintal with an open interest of 35,600 lots.

However, the commodity for delivery in March was trading lower by Rs 1, or 0.02 pe cent, to Rs 4,475 per quintal in 30,940 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders following rising demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in prices.
