Turmeric prices were up by 1.52 per cent to Rs 8,170 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in August month rose by Rs 122, or 1.52 per cent to Rs 8,170 per quintal with an open interest of 17,185 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September contracts moved up by Rs 64, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 8,120 per quintal in 11,860 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up turmeric prices at futures trade.
