Turmeric prices rose by 1.91 per cent to Rs 7,140 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in December rose by Rs 134 or 1.91 per cent to Rs 7,140 per quintal with an open interest of 7,910 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in November moved up by Rs 128 or 1.78 per cent to Rs 7,326 per quintal in 10,220 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up the turmeric prices at futures trade.
