Turmeric prices were up by 1.99 per cent to Rs 6,878 per quintal in futures trade today as participants widened their positions, driven by pick up in demand at the spot market.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in October rose by Rs 134 or 1.99 per cent to Rs 6,878 per quintal with an open interest of 2,500 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in November moved up by Rs 104 or 1.51 per cent to Rs 7,014 per quintal in 11,755 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up the turmeric prices at futures trade.
