Rituparna Das retains jr national badminton title

Holder Rituparna Das retained U-19 girls title while unseeded Harshil Dhani pulled off an upset win to clinch the U-19 boys title in the 39th Junior national badminton Championship here today.
Rituparna defeated Ruthvika Shivani 21-19 21-19, while in the boys singles U-19 final, top seeded Aditya Joshi of Air India looked offcolour and almost surrendered before team mate Harhil Dhani.
Dhani upset top seeded Aditya 21-16 21-13 at the Patliputra Sports Complex today.
Siril Varma of Telengana and Shriyanshi Pardeshi of Air India bagged U-17 boys and girls title defeating Chirag Sen of Air India and Vrushali G of Telengana 21-14 15-21 23-21 and 21-16 21-15 respectively.
Ashwini Bhat K and Mithula U K of Karnataka pocketed U-17 girls doubles title pipping Bhavya Rishi and Praanjal Taneja of Delhi 21-16 21-17 in the final.
Krishna Prasad G and Satwik Sai Raj R of Andhra Pradesh lifted U-17 boys doubles trophy trouncing Arintap Dasgupta (AI) and Kaustubh Rawat (DLI) 21-16 21-13.

Saurabh Sharma (HAR) and Pooja D (AP) win the U-19 mixed doubles trophy defeating Chirag Shetty (MAH) and Sruthi K P (KER) 21-12 21-16.
Later, former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Vice President of Badminton Association of India Murlidharan and Organising Chairman former state minister Abdul Bari Siddique gave away the prizes.
Arjun M R and Chirag Shetty lifted boys U-19 doubles title defeating Rohan Kapoor and Sourav sharma 21-11 21-16.
Rituparna Das and Ruthvika Shivani bagged girls U-19 doubles title beating Reshma Karthik and Sanjana Santosh 21-11 21-17.
