Led by state president Ramchandra Purve and leader of opposition in the assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui, RJD activists sat on dharna at Kargil Chowk here to press for CBI probe into lathicharge and police firing on workers of RJD and other parties protesting against the killing of a village head of Sohanathu block in Aurangabad district.
Siddiqui alleged that the police were now out of the state government's control and demanded action against those responsible for ordering police lathicharge and firing.
The police said seven police personnel, including three women, were injured in a clash with CPI(M-L) activists at Pachrukhia yesterday during a protest against the arrest of 29 people, including ex-MLA Rajaram Singh on May 2.
The police later lathicharged the CPI(M-L) workers to disperse them, sources said.
The police had arrested 29 people on May two following violence and arson by a mob to protest against the murder of Sonhathu panchyat mukhiya Devendra Singh on March 29.
