A group of RJD MLAs called on Bihar police chief P K Thakur today alleging that one of them had received "extortion calls" but the police administration in the district concerned had failed to take adequate action.
"I met the Bihar DGP today and apprised him of the two extortion calls that I had received on September 12 and September 26. I was accompanied by my colleagues Ramanand Yadav, Nawaz Alam and Faraz Fatmi," RJD MLA from Dhaka seat Faisal Rahman told PTI over phone.
He said as soon as the first extortion call came, he had informed the Motihari superintendent of police orally as well as in writing. "But it appeared that my complaint was never taken seriously".
"I also wrote to the DGP but got no response. So today we met him personally. He has given an assurance that proper investigation will be conducted. Call details were being obtained as the number from which I had received the extortion threats suggested that the callers had used a Nepal number," Rahman said.
The DGP assured that after call details are obtained the matter would be thoroughly investigated by the CID, he added.
