"...Reconfiguration of these seven blocks (won by the company in the February auction) in continuation in a single set will enable us to use these blocks in efficient manner by deployment of LTE technology," RJio said in a letter to DoT.
RJio won 32 blocks of airwave frequencies amounting to over 6 megahertz of spectrum in the northeastern states for Rs 44.8 crore. Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Aircel also have spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in the northeast service area.
The company cited a DoT point in the notice inviting applications for the spectrum auction, which said companies would be provided contiguous blocks of airwaves, subject to availability.
DoT auctioned 125 blocks of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in the northeast, out of which 101 blocks were won by all four bidders and 24 were unsold.
