Rly to beef up security after girl's killing at Secunderabad

The South Central Railway has decided to beef up security at railway stations and in trains, after a child was stabbed by a man, suspected to be mentally ill, at Secunderabad station.
SCR general manager P K Srivastava held a meeting with officials on security following the yesterday's incident, in which the victim, a six-year-old girl, died.
"The general manager emphasised that there will be zero-tolerance against crime against passengers on platforms and in trains, especially to women passengers. The GM stressed that close watch should be kept by the security personnel on the movement of suspicious persons on station premises both through CCTV surveillance and increased field presence," an SCR press release here stated.

Security personnel have been asked to take prompt action against anti-social elements and unauthorised persons as soon as they are noticed. A high-level coordination meeting would be held soon with the Government Railway Police.
