Railways have adopted the concept of giving incentives to contractors for early completion of projects, Union minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday.
He also said that a lot of monitoring is done at various levels and regular meetings are held with officials of state governments and authorities concerned to resolve pending issues that are obstructing progress of projects.
"To ensure that projects are completed even before time, Railways have adopted concept of incentives to the contractor in the form of bonus clause in contracts which will further enhance the pace of execution of projects," the Minister of Railways told the Lok Sabha.
Regarding the Kanhangad-Panathur-Kaniyuru new railway line, he said survey report for it is being finalised.
Field survey for the 90.50 kilometres line has been completed. Fifty kilometres of the project alignment falls in Kerala while the rest falls in Karnataka.
"Survey report, estimate and plans of the proposed new line are under finalisation," he said.
