Railways earned Rs 14,125.15 crore in April this year as compared to Rs 12,008.56 crore during the same period last year.
Total goods earnings were Rs 9,552.51 crore in April 2015 as against Rs 8,174.94 crore in April 2014. It was an increase of 16.85 per cent, according to Railway Ministry data.
Passenger earnings in April 2015 were Rs 4,013.66 crore as compared to Rs 3,353.12 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.70 per cent.
Total number of passengers booked during the month of April 2015 were 658.29 million compared to 684.32 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 3.80 per cent.
In the suburban sector, the number of passengers booked during April 2015 were 344.23 million compared to 361.40 million during the corresponding period last year, a decrease of 4.75 per cent.
In the non-suburban sector, the number of passengers booked were 314.06 million compared to 322.92 million during the same period last year, a decrease of 2.74 per cent.
