'Road Ambulance' draws praise from public on Republic Day show

The multi utility "Road Ambulance" which would be pressed into services across Bihar soon for immediate maintenance of damaged roads and providing immediate medical aid to distressed persons, was the centre of attraction at the Republic day function here today.
Probably first of its kind in the country, the especially designed "Road Ambulance", was the tableau of Road Construction Department displayed at Republic Day function at gandhi maidan here.
This unique experiment in road maintenance has been specially designed under supervision of engineers of RCD to meet the challenges of immediate need of repair of a road and help needy people falling victim to accidents by administering first aid and rushing them to the nearest hospital, the audiences were told at the function.
On Friday, Secretary Road Construction Department Pratya Amrit had announced that the Road Ambulance would start plying on roads from February 20.
A total of 76 such Ambulances would criss-cross the state on 9064 km of state Highways and major district roads. Each ambulance would move around in a radius of 100 km.
The vehicle would be fitted with GPS system for effective monitoring of the movement of the vehicles, Amrit said adding the vehicle was part of commitment of the department for effective maintenance of roads in the state.

He said the vehicle was fitted with aggregate, sand silos, emulsion tank and pug mill for mixing aggregate & emulsions.
The vehicle would have chain saw to clear road from fallen tress and branches a common factor in rainy season.
The Ambulance would have two strechers and first aid kit to adminster immediate relief to a traumatised perosn on road before rushing him to the nearest hospital, Amrit said.
