An Ultra Left outfit has killed the site-in-charge of a road construction company at Peeding villlage near naxal-affected Saranda forest range in Jharkhand, a police officer said today.
A group of ultras killed the site in-charge before setting ablaze the the earth moving equipment yesterday, Sub-divisional Police Officer (Chakradharpur sub-divison) Alok Priyadarshi said.
The construction company was engaged in building a road between Bandu and Peeding villages under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Saranda forest range of the district.
Priyadarshi said though the involvement of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) could not be ruled out, it was to be ascertained whether it was the handiwork of CPI(Maoists) or PLFI.
The police was investigating whether the incident was a fall out between the two groups for gaining control of the area.
The police was also exploring the possibility whether the outfit wanted to make their presence felt in the area as the villages in naxal-hit Saranda forest range had taken part in the Lok Sabha polls on April 17 defying the poll boycott call issued by the Maoists.
A combing operation was on.
