Munir Sheikh, who allegedly robbed copper wire worth Rs 50 lakh at gun-point from Mundka area, was arrested from ISBT, Kashmiri Gate yesterday morning by the Special Cell following a tip off, police said today.
On August 10, Kabir Sheikh, an associate of Munir who was also carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000, was arrested. This arrest had put police on the trail of Munir, about whom it was learnt that he had fled to Bengaluru, Karnataka.
A team had also gone to Bengaluru in search of him. But Munir came to know about this and he escaped to Delhi.
Yesterday, a tip off was received that Munir would catch a bus at ISBT, Kashmiri Gate to go to Bawana, following which a trap was laid and he was apprehended, said Ranjan.
Upon sustained interrogation, Munir allegedly disclosed that he is involved in many criminal cases of robbery, dacoity and Arms Act.
