Robbers kill home guard jawan

A home guard was killed by robbers when he resisted their attempt to loot a jeweller in Khandauli town in the district, police said here today.
Last evening, three bike-borne men tried to snatch bags containing cash and valuables from a local jeweller, Nand Kishore Verma, and his son Anand who were returning home, police said.
But when the father-son duo resisted their bid, they shot Anand in his stomach and Verma with butt of a pistol, police said.
In the meantime, home guard Mukesh Upadhyay came for their rescue, but he was also shot by a robber when he caught hold of his accomplice.
Hearing, the firing large number of people gathered and caught one of the assailants and severely beat him up while another ran away.
Third robber ran into the Khandauli Block building which was later caught by police. The mob then stormed the Khandauli police station and started thrashing the robber.
