Robbers loot Rs 24 lakh from bank
Press Trust of India Nadia(WB) Robbers looted around Rs 24 lakh from the branch of a nationalised bank here today after cutting the iron bars fixed at the rear end of its premises, police said.
The staff of United Bank of India's Dhubulia branch entered the bank and found around Rs 24 lakh kept in the strong room of the branch stolen and reported the matter, they said.
The vault was cut in a round shape. There were four CCTV cameras installed inside the bank and wires of three of them were found cut, said Lead District Manager Nagendra Nath Biswas confirming the amount missing from the branch.
"An FIR has been lodged. We have examined the CCTV footage. Though the pictures are not very clear, yet the miscreants are seen moving inside the bank. Investigations are on and a raid has been launched to nab the robbers," a senior police officer said.
