Actor Robert Redford says "Pete's Dragon" is the most "diverse" film he has ever worked on.
The veteran actor stars in the upcoming remake of the classic tale, about a young boy who lives in the woods with a mythical creature.
Redford, 79, plays a woodcarver who raised his children with stories about a dragon hiding in the forest, and it was this fantastical element that immediately appealed to the star, reported Contactmusic.
"I knew the fact that it was more diverse than anything I had done up to that point," Redford said explaining his own childhood saw him grow up in a working-class neighbourhood with little to do, making storytelling a form of escapism.
"That had great appeal. Since that was a part of my upbringing, it became a part of me. I wanted to pass it on to my kids, and my grandkids. I thought, 'Well if you could ever do a project, that really has magic in it, justifiable magic, you should do it.' This was it'.
