International Documentary Association will present the award to Redford, 78, for his contribution as a filmmaker in the documentary genre, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Redford founded the Sundance Institute, which supports documentary filmmakers through its Documentary Film Program. Redford also served as executive producer of the 1980 short doc 'The Solar Film', 1992's 'Incident at Oglala' and 2007's 'The Unforeseen', and narrated 1988's 'Yosemite: Fate of Heaven'.
He has also had a hand in such nonfiction TV programs as 'All The President's Men Revisited', the series 'Chicagoland' and 'Death Row Stories'.
