Cardamom prices rose by 2.57 per cent to Rs 1,079.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets amid an increase in physical demand in the domestic spot market.
Besides, tight stocks position on fall in arrivals from growing regions, fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in the current month went up by Rs 27.10, or 2.57 per cent, to Rs 1,079.90 per kg in a business turnover of just one lot.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August edged higher by Rs 12.90, or 1.24 per cent, to Rs 1,050 per kg with a trading volume of 16 lots.
Traders said, widening of positions by participants driven by a surge in demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions attributed to the rise in cardamom prices in futures trade.
