Robust demand lifts cardamom futures by 1.90%
Press Trust of India New Delhi Cardamom prices rose 1.90 per cent to Rs 1,158.70 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions amid pick up in domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market.
Tight stock positions on fall in arrivals from major producing regions supported the price uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 21.60, or 1.90 per cent, at Rs 1,158.70 per kg in business turnover of 45 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March went up by Rs 18, or 1.55 per cent, to Rs 1,179 per kg in 2 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders following uptick in domestic as well as exports demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing belts led to the rise in cardamom futures.
