The party also demanded unconditional release of all arrested farmers, who were rounded up by the police yesterday while proceeding towards Rohtak to hold protest demonstration outside Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hoda's residence.
Hundreds of farmers from nearby districts, including BKU president Gurnam Singh, All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) state president Phool Singh Sheokand and vice-presidents Sardha Nand Solanki and Master Sher Singh had blocked the Rohtak-Panipat Road near Brahmanwass village for over four hours, after the police refused to let them move towards Rohtak.
Describing the demand for bonus on wheat as 'justified, CPI(M) state secretary Inderjit Singh said, per acre average yield of wheat was much less than expected due to adverse weather conditions, while input cost had substantially increased during the recent period.
