The Hound was last seen presumably falling to his death after a brutal fight with Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) over the safety of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), reported Access Hollywood.
McCann hopes that The Hound was merely injured in the battle, rather than killed outright.
"It wasn't looking good, was it? If he opens his mouth, and 'blubbbb', the blood comes out, that's not looking good. There's always hope, but, I don't know," he said.
McCann added that he has been "really pleased" with the reaction of 'Game of Thrones' fans to his and Gwendoline Christie's on-screen fight.
'Game of Thrones' announced nine new cast members - including Jonathan Pryce and Alexander Siddig - at Comic-Con International in July.
