A local court today sent Gautam Kundu, chairman of Ponzi firm Rose Valley Group, to nine-day CBI custody.
The Special Chief Judicial Magistrate's court allowed the investigating agency nine days' remand of Kundu though it had sought a custody for 14 days.
Earlier, Kundu was produced before the court after being brought to the state capital on transit remand from Kolkata yesterday. Kundu was kept at the CBI's Special Investigative Team (SIT) unit here.
The CBI filed its charge sheet in the Rose Valley Group chit fund scam naming Kundu and three others in this court on January 7. The firm was charged with defrauding depositors of Rs 17,000 crore from across the country of which Rs 450 crore was received by the ponzi firm from Odisha alone.
