Rotavirus vaccination to be introduced in Haryana next month

Rotavirus vaccination programme would be introduced in Haryana next month on pilot basis to protect children from diarrhoea.
"Haryana is the one of first states to introduce rotavirus vaccination programme on pilot basis along with Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha," Additional Chief Secretary, Health, P K Mahapatra said here today.
Inaugurating a two-day state-level workshop on rotavirus, he said, the vaccine would be available free of cost at all government health facilities under the Universal Immunisation Programme for 6, 10 and 14-weeks-old children.
The vaccine is available in the private sector at a cost of Rs 3,000 for a full course, Mahapatra said.
Notably, state Health Minister Anil Vij, in May last year had written a letter to Union Health Minister J P Nadda over the issue, he said, adding "Following this Haryana has been selected for implementation of the pilot project on rotavirus vaccination.
