A round-the-world rally aimed at creating awareness about the plight of under-privileged children and to generate funds for their education was flagged off today from India Gate here.
The event was organised by Delhi Round Table 5 (DRT5), an organisation of businessmen, entrepreneurs, technocrats and professionals who are working towards eradicating illiteracy.
The 180-day-long trip would be undertaken by the three- member team of Tushar Agarwal, Sanjay Madan and photographer D Prasad.
The trio would travel to 50 countries spread across six continents in their Toyota Fortuner car, a DRT5 press release said.
The rally, attended by over 50 people, was flagged off by DRT5's Chairman, Arun Kumar Begani, Area III Chairman Prashant Agarwal and convener Tarang Krishna.
The team would meet NRIs, sponsors, etc., during their travels in order to generate funds for building schools for under-privileged children, Krishna said.
The team would traverse the globe from east to west, through Siliguri in West Bengal, then Burma and so on, he said.
The journey would be chronicled through a book which is to be authored by Tushar Agarwal and Sanjay Madan as well as through videos and pictures taken by Prasad, Krishna added.
