RPF constable surrenders in CJM court, sent to 14 days custody

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, one of the two accused, who threw a couple out of the Shatabdi Express train leading to the death of the woman, today surrendered before a local court which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
The accused constable Subhash, who surrendered before the court this morning, has been sent to judicial custody of 14 days till March 18 by Chief Judicial Magistrate Vishwanath here, officials said.
Santosh and her husband Rajeshwar Dutt Tyagi, who had purchased general class tickets, inadvertently boarded the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express. The couple was allegedly pushed out of the train by two RPF personnel on duty, after heated arguments on Feb 27.
The woman had died on the spot. The husband was, however, escaped unhurt.
After the incident, Rajeshwar filed a complaint at the Government Railway Police Station here. On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered under section 304 of IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against RPF Sub-Inspector Ramchander and Constable Subhash.
RPF Sub Inspector Ramchander is still absconding.
