Reliance Power (RPower) has filed a petition challenging the Coal Ministry's notification which cancelled allocation and withdrew permission for supply of surplus coal of up to nine million tons per annum from Moher, Moher-Amlohri extension and Chhatrasal coal mines to a thermal power plant owned by Chitrangi Power Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of RPower.
The government had on May 7 issued a notification by which it had cancelled the allocation of one of the three coal blocks to Reliance Power's Sasan project in Madhya Pradesh.
The government had cancelled the block in view of the Supreme Court's judgements of August 24, 2014, and September 25, 2014, by which 214 coal blocks allocations were cancelled.
The apex court had not cancelled the allocation of Chhatrasal coal block in Sasan, RPower has said in its plea.
RPower had in March this year said that its 3,960-MW Sasan thermal power project has been fully commissioned.
