The Jharkhand government Monday placed a Rs 1,117 crore supplementary budget on the first day of the winter session of the state Assembly.

The supplementary budget was tabled by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nilkanth Singh Munda.

Thereafter, the House took up obituary reference to departed leaders before adjourning the House till December 26.

The members observed a minutes silence as a mark of respect of the passing away of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee, former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, Noble prize winner V S Naipaul, and other leaders who passed away recently.

Congress newly elected MLA Naman Bixal Kongadi, who Sunday won the bypoll from Kolebira assembly constituency, was administered the oath as member by Speaker Dinesh Oraon in the latters chamber.

His oath took place in the Speakers chamber as the certificate from the Returning Officer reached only after the conclusion of the first days session, according to an official in the state assembly secretariat.
