Although several teams of the police were probing the shooting dead of 26-year-old Dharam Pal by two bike-borne men outside a shop in Jafrabad where he had gone to verify arms licence on September 27, no arrests had been made in the case.
"The Commissioner of Police, Delhi, (B S Bassi) has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh with immediate effect and shall remain good till the arrest of the accused person(s) or anyone who may give information to trace out or render any help to arrest those involved in the murder of constable Dharam Pal," an official statement said, adding, "his service pistol was also looted".
Dharam Pal was posted at Jaffrabad police station a month ago before the incident and deputed as beat constable of Maujpur area.
This was the second such incident in just two months where a constable posted at Jafrabad police station has been gunned down by criminals. Recently, a constable named Shivraj Tomar was shot dead by an alleged criminal, who was later killed in an encounter by Special Cell.
