Rs 10 coin removed from boy's abdomen

A medical team at the Government Rajaji Hospital here had removed a Rs 10 coin which was accidentally gulped by a seven-year-old boy of Manamadurai near Sivaganga
The dean of the Hospital Vairamuthu Raju said Santhosh had swallowed the coin on December three and was complaining stomach pain after that.
The X-ray had found the coin stuck in the abdomen. The efforts to remove the coin using laxative or enima failed. They decided to use endoscopy equipment supplied to the hospital recently.
Child specialist chief Dr Hemantkumar and doctors M Kannan and R Ramani used the endoscopy equipment and removed the coin in three minutes.

The doctors said every month 20 to 25 children come to hospital for treatment after swallowing pins, small batteries and coins.
