A businessman was allegedly robbed off cash worth Rs 13 lakh including dollars at gunpoint by three persons in Central Delhi, police said today.
Police said that the incident took place on March 19 when Neeraj Pankaj was on his way back to Anand Vihar from Connaught Place where he runs his business.
Around 8.20 PM when he reached the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in his Skoda car, three men travelling in a Verna car overtook his vehicle after which he stopped his car, they said.
Two men got out of the car and surrounded Pankaj's vehicle while the third one kept sitting inside. One of them brandished a gun asked him to open the trunk of his car, they added.
Pankaj handed over the keys to them and the accused took the bag, containing the money, from the trunk. The bag had Rs 11 lakh in Indian currency, Rs 2 lakh in dollars, a laptop and other documents, police said.
After the men fled from there, Pankaj informed police and a case was registered at IP Estate police station.
Police is examining the CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the identity of the accused.
One of the accused asked Pankaj about the dollars kept in his bag and police are suspected that someone privy to the businessman's monetary affairs might have been involved in crime.
