Fatehabad Revenue Officer Ram Singh Bishnoi today said the farmers of village Gorakhpur, Baropal and Kajalheri were getting the compensation.

However, a section of farmers have been protesting against setting up of the nuclear power plant at village Gorakhpur. Former Army chief V K Singh had joined the protesting farmers on Tuesday and said the government should reconsider the proposal.

Main opposition party in Haryana, the INLD, has also been strongly opposing the setting up of the nuclear power plant, citing safety aspect and farmers' protest.

The state government, however, has been maintaining that nuclear power energy is the need of the hour to meet growing power demands and has sought to assure the people on the safety aspect.

On July 18, the Haryana Government had announced the award to acquire land in village Gorakhpur to set up the nuclear power plant and said the farmers would get a compensation of Rs 46 lakh per acre.
