Rs 25.88 crore sanctioned for ATS arms & equipment purchase

The state government today sanctioned Rs 25.88 crore for purchase of arms and related equipment for Bihar Police's Anti-Terrorist Squad set up last year to deal with terrorist activities in the state, a senior official said today.
The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Principal Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat) Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters.
The state government also approved a proposal for extending for one year with effect from January five next the tenure of a judicial commission probing a police firing incident under Naurangia police station area in West Champaran district last year in which seven tribals were killed, he said.
In another major decision, the state government sanctioned Rs 372.58 crore for construction of concrete lanes and bylanes in villages and that of the Anganwadi centres, Mehrotra said.
In order to promote tourism industry in Bihar, the state government approved a proposal for regulation of service condition of the employees of the tourism department in order to ensure their skill development, the Principal Secretary (Cabinet Coordination) said.
