accountant from Kursela bridge in Katihar district, looted Rs 25 lakh from him and then released him in neighbouring Araria district, a police officer said
today.
Six armed men intercepted the vehicle in which the accountant, Mantu Kumar, was returning to his office after withdrawing the amount from a bank at Bhagalpur yesterday, abducted him and the driver at gun point and took them to Araria district, Town police station in-charge Ramshankar Singh said.
They beat him and the driver, looted the amount and then abandoned them near a railway crossing. They also took away their mobile phones.
An employee of the company Gupta has lodged an FIR at the Town police station in this connection, the police officer said.
