Rs 30 cr sanctioned for bull rearing projects in Haryana

National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has sanctioned nearly Rs 30 crore for rearing of high genetic bull specimens in Haryana.
"A Rs 5 crore project has been sanctioned for rearing high genetic merit Hariana bulls through pedigree selection along with another Rs 24.72 crore programme for rearing high genetic merit Murrah bulls through progeny testing," Santosh Sharma, Chairman of the Haryana Livestock Development Board said here today.
Haryana is credited with having one of the world's best breeds of buffaloes, the Murrah, as well as one of the best cows breeds, Hariana.
Sharma added that milch animals in Haryana had been provided insurance cover under various schemes funded by the Union and the state governments.
"Milch animals in 15 districts are covered under 'Livestock Insurance Scheme' funded by the Union government. More than 65,000 animals are insured annually at an expenditure of about Rs 4 crore," he said.
