Rs 34.76 cr penalty imposed on erring power consumers

Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam had detected 13,913 cases of pilferage of power till September and imposed a penalty of Rs 34.76 crore, a power official said, adding Rs 18.17 crore has been recovered.

Complaints were lodged with the police in 3,595 cases, he said.

Meters of 18,364 consumers were found defective during the checking and of them 17,337 were replaced, he said.
