Three persons with masked faces entered the ATM booth of Andhra Bank branch at Khothran village on the outskirts of Phagwara in the wee hours today, police said.
They tried to uproot the ATM but did not succeed, police said adding that they managed to break the ATM machine and took away the boxes containing cash, police said.
Subsequently, the perpetrators took out the cash from the boxes and dumped them in nearby fields of sugarcane, police said.
Vishaw Vikas, Assistant Manager of the branch, said that the ATM had Rs four lakh and seventy five thousand in it.
