The Maharashtra government has granted Rs five lakh to young Mumbai high hurdler and national record holder Siddhanth Thingalaya to prepare for the 2020 Olympics.
Siddhanth specialises in 110 meters hurdles.
The grant has been given by the Ministry of Sports under the Mission Olympics 2020, a media release said.
Siddhanth, presently training in the US, thanked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sports Minister Vinod Tawde and Sports Commissioner Sunil Kendrekar for the grant.
"I am overwhelmed on receiving the grant...at a crucial time," the 6-foot-3-inch tall Thingalaya said.
Currently, the budding track and field athlete is being trained by Gary Cablayan.
