Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for Gangasasgar visitors: Mamata

The West Bengal government will be providing an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh each to those visiting the Gangasar Mela to be held in January next year, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said.
This was decided during a meeting held at the state secretariat today.
"We have taken a decision of providing an insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh to the visitors of this year's Gangasagar Mela scheduled next month. Every single visitor to the Mela will be covered," Banerjee said.
According to a senior minister, the insurance cover is being introduced for the first time for the visitors.

Education minister Partha Chatterjee, panchayat minister Subrata Mukherjee, urban development minister Firhad Hakim and transport minister Suvendu Adhikary were also present in the meeting.
