Rs 7,281-cr paid through online transfers: Punjab govt

Punjab government has disbursed Rs 7,281 crore, including by way of payment of salary, through an online transfer system launched this month.
Sharing the data here today, Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said the online transfer system had been used to make retrospective pay-outs to the tune of Rs 7,281 crore for the period April-to-June 2013.
Stating that the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) was monitoring the online payment scheme, the minister noted that all government payments were now being deposited directly in the bank accounts of concerned departments and authorities.
He said that 14.32 lakh persons had benefited from the scheme.
The e-payment system has also been implemented in all government offices for their transactions with the treasury department, the minister added.
