Unidentified armed men robbed Rs 83 lakh cash from the employees of a businessman in Pitampura area of north-west Delhi last night.
According to the police, the incident was reported by Vijay Goel, a rice trader who runs his office from Lawrence Road near Britannia circle in Pitampura at around 8:05 PM.
The complainant told police that the robbery took place right in front of his house when three of his employees, identified as Atma Ram, Sonu and driver Amar Singh came in a car to deliver the collected cash of the day.
"As soon as the trio reached Goel's residence and were opening the dickey of the car to bring out the cash-filled bag, the seven armed men reached the spot on three bikes and held the trio hostage at gun point," said a police official.
They snatched the bag and fled from the spot, he said.
"A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code with the Maurya Enclave police station and several teams have been deputed to nab the assailants," the official said.

Police questioned the three employees and the watchman of the society who apparently was not present on duty when the robbery took place.
Investigators are also not ruling out the possibility of an insider being involved in the loot as the robbers were aware of the cash being transported to Goel's residence.
Police also scanned the CCTV footage of the surrounding areas to identify the culprits. Senior officials claimed they have got definite leads in the case and arrests are likely soon.
