Rs 9,000 cr liabilities of Omar govt create problems:J-K govt

The Jammu and Kashmir government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that Rs 9,000 crore liabilities of the previous Omar Abdullah regime have created difficulties for the present dispensation to take forward developmental programmes in the state.
"Rs 9,000 crore liabilities of the previous NC-Congress regime have created difficulties for the present dispensation in taking forward developmental programmes smoothly in the state," Minister for Roads, Buildings and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said today.
"With the prudent approach of Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, the state is gradually coming out of this morass. The people should wait and watch the performance of the government in coming months which will be a period of development and prosperity," Bukhari, also the Chairman of District Development Board (DDB), Poonch, said this during his tour to Poonch district here.
The Minister said "our government has completed just five months but have to pay the salary of thirteen months as successive regimes had failed to pay the salary of a large number of employees for 8 months."
The government is working to improve healthcare facilities in the state, especially in rural, far-flung and border areas, he said.
"Health is wealth" said the minister, adding that establishing Medical College in Rajouri district will benefit people of Poonch district.

He said the state government has intensified process for starting work on these health institutions approved by the Centre.
The government is making all out efforts for taking medicare facilities to the doorstep of the people especially in hilly and border areas, Bukhari said.
He said the government is also working on setting up a vast network of health institutions aimed at improving healthcare system in the state and added that far-flung, border and hilly areas will get priority in this process.
