The government has fixed a target of covering 55 lakh beneficiaries under the ambitious Samajwadi Pension Yojna for 2016-17 for which Rs 3,327 crore has been earmarked. The scheme earlier aimed at 45 lakh beneficiaries.
A proposal of Rs 60 crore has been made for running shelter homes for old and physically challenged persons, and a sum of Rs 6 crore has been earmarked for running authority/appellate authority for senior citizens.
Rs 1,950 crore has been earmarked for scholarships for pre-10th and post-10th standard students belonging to scheduled caste.
Similarly, Rs 1,092 crore has been made for providing scholarships to pre-10th and post-10th students of the backward classes.

Rs 683 crore has been earmarked for providing scholarship to pre and post-10th standard students belonging to the general category.
Rs 121 crore, Rs 1.30 crore, Rs 154 crore, Rs 82 crore and Rs 41 crore have been proposed respectively for marriage of the girls belonging to SC, ST, Backward Classes, minorities and general category.
Rs 340 crore has been allocated under Aasra Yojna (residential houses) to provide free of cost houses, while Rs 100 has been set aside for free motor/battery run e-rickshaw yojna. Rs 60 crore has been arranged under Rajiv Avas Yojna in the budget. A provision of Rs 277 crore has been made under Housing for All (Urban Mission) Scheme.
