RS elect AIADMK nominees call on Jaya

Four AIADMK nominees, who were declared elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha, today called on party supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalitha. Former TN Housing Minister (20011-16) R Vaithilingam, former Union Minister S R Balasubramoniyan who joined AIADMK after quitting GK Vasan-led TMC, A Navaneethakrishnan (a sitting Rajya Sabha MP, his tenure will end on June 29 and he was renominated and re-elected as well) and A Vijayakumar (joint secretary of party advocates wing, Kanyakumari district) called on Jayalalithaa, a government release said.
Jayalalithaa congratulated them on being elected. Biennial polls were held to fill vacancies of six MPs to RS from Tamil Nadu as the terms of AIADMK's Navaneethakrishnan, A W Rabi Bernard and P H Paul Manoj Pandian and DMK's K P Ramalingam and S Thangavelu and former Union Minister and Congress leader EM Sudarsana Natchiappan end on June 29.
Of the six members, Navaneethakrishnan was elected in 2014, Rabi Bernard in 2011 and others in 2010.
Navaneethakrishnan filled the vacancy caused by the disqualification of DMK's T M Selvaganapathi.
