RS mourns death of its former members

Rajya Sabha today mourned the death of two of its former members Bekal Utsahi and Bhai Mahavir.
When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned about passing of Bekal Utsahi on December 3 at 88 years.
He said that Utsahi was an eminent poet and Parliamentarian. He was awarded the Padmashree in 1976 for his contribution to literature.
Bhai Mahavir also passed away on December 3 at 94 years. He was a renowed educationist and had served as Madhya Pradesh governor.
Ansari said the passing away of these two former MPs, the country has lost distinguished Parliamentarians.

Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of departed.
