The adoption of the resolution is a "matter of great joy and fitting recognition of ancient science of yoga," Chairman Hamid Ansari said.
The resolution, that recognises that yoga provides a holistic approach for heath and wellbeing, was co-sponsored by 177 nations and adopted at UN session yesterday, he said.
Ansari also mentioned of December 13 being the 13th anniversary of the dastardly attack on Parliament House by terrorists.
Recalling the supreme sacrifice made by the security personnel, he said by preventing entry of terrorist in Parliament House they set an example of supreme sacrifice.
